Barrow manager Adam Murray has confirmed the club will target late summer signings after the EFL transfer window closes, taking advantage of the National League’s later deadline. The Bluebirds sit 22nd in the National League with 0 points from 2 games (0W-0D-2L), conceding 4 goals while scoring just 1.
Why the EFL window closing helps Barrow
The National League’s transfer window remains open until March, giving Barrow a key advantage over EFL clubs. Murray explained that once the EFL window shuts, League players become available as they can no longer move within the Football League. "It actually benefits us when the Football League window closes," he said. "The Football League players can’t go anywhere else, they have to come down."
Barrow’s transfer strategy
Rather than rushing into deals, Murray plans to wait for the right opportunities. "We’ll bide our time," he said. "That’s when you look to strengthen again, so we don’t want to close all spaces up because we do feel like there’s a couple of areas we can strengthen in." The manager believes patience will allow Barrow to secure better value for money.
What’s next for Barrow?
Barrow’s next fixture is away at Scunthorpe on 16 February 2027. With just one goal scored in two games, Murray will be looking to add attacking options. He also stressed the need for squad balance, saying, "That takes time, so we know where we are on the process."
