[…] The Bluebirds’ boss admits there were some parts of the game that he was happy with, but added he was pleased with how his side got the job done. Speaking to BBC Radio Cumbria, he said: "The picture of that game is what we are going to face a lot in the league, all different aspects of it, and we need to understand that." He continued by saying, "It’s really important that the players, myself, my staff, the football club, we don’t get carried away just because we have beat a couple of League One teams (Blackpool and Mansfield), it means nothing."
"We have to make sure we understand how to grind games out when we are not getting our own way, when things aren’t smooth and you not winning every single battle, and every single decision is going your way." What do we look like then? Because I won’t accept a bunch of victims.
“I was really happy with the response at half-time because they (the players) got a rollocking. And I saw a different side to them second half, which really pleased me.”
Murray felt his side didn’t find enough answers to the questions being asked of them in the opening 45 minutes. He added: "Morecambe were very organised, very disciplined and we were playing against a really strong wind, which again was perfect because we are going to face that at home, and we didn’t find the right solutions in the first half and we turned into a percentage game.
“I didn’t like it, I didn’t like it one bit first half, even though apart from a couple of counter attacks I never really felt like we were out of control. But we didn’t do enough to hurt them, so that was frustrating.”
“It took us 10 or 15 minutes to get used to that with the players because it wasn’t our initial plan, so it was great learning for the players and the staff of how we need to react in certain situations.”
