Barrow Ready to Take on League Two

Barrow's longest-serving player, Ben Jackson, has said the team is ready to take on League Two, with high fitness levels and a strong squad. The Bluebirds have 'absolutely no-one they should fear' in the National League this season, according to Jackson.

High Fitness Levels

Jackson has praised the current crop of players at Holker Street, saying they are one of the fittest and strongest groups he has been around since entering professional football seven years ago. The left-sided player stated: "The style of play under the new gaffer now is a lot more demanding, but the work we've done in the off-season and pre-season has reflected on that."

Strong Squad

Despite only joining the club in 2024, Jackson knows Holker Street better than many of his teammates, with an overhaul of the squad conducted by new manager Adam Murray during the summer in a bid to raise standards at the club. Jackson says that the new dressing room is full of "really good characters" and "their ability as footballers is at a high level."

Next Fixture

The Bluebirds are next in action at home against Southend on 2027-02-13. Jackson is hoping to contribute more goals to the side as the team aims to battle it out at the top of the division in a bid to bounce back to League Two at the first attempt following relegation.

Contributing More Goals

Jackson also says he is hoping to contribute more goals to the side as the team aims to battle it out at the top of the division in a bid to bounce back to League Two at the first attempt following relegation. "I think the first year I joined, I was very successful in that regard, and then last year it flattened out a lot," he said. "So this year, I want to get back to that level and add goals into my game."

Playing on the Front Foot

Jackson also says he is hoping to play on the front foot more this season, enjoying getting forward and putting deliveries in the box, getting shots on goal. "I think the style of play and what the manager's asking from me is going to play a big part in that," he said.
