Barrow AFC secured a vital 4-2 away victory over Southend United on Saturday. The win lifts them off the bottom of the National League table and marks a second win in three games.

After a goalless first half, Rekeem Harper volleyed Barrow ahead seven minutes after the restart. Seb Thompson then doubled the lead with a deflected effort from distance in the 66th minute. Southend pulled a goal back from the penalty spot through Ryan Colclough, but Barrow restored their two-goal cushion when a Dan Mooney cross was turned into his own net by Darren Oldaker with six minutes left. Leon Chambers-Parillon scored a late consolation for the hosts before Mooney sealed the points for Barrow in added time.

Harper's goal was his second in as many games. The result ended Southend's five-match unbeaten run and provided a major boost for Adam Murray's side after a winless August. The manager will be pleased with the response from his squad, which underwent a significant rebuild over the summer.

The three points move Barrow up to 17th in the National League, now on nine points from nine games. Barrow now prepare to host Scunthorpe United at Holker Street on Tuesday evening.
