Murray acknowledged that frustration was his primary emotion but denied being angry or disappointed. He highlighted that Barrow had opportunities to capitalize on their possession and quality, particularly during set pieces. Murray admitted that their goalkeeper faced little challenge from the opposing side, suggesting that Barrow's defense struggled to contain Hartlepool's attacks.
The manager also pointed out that despite having players with a combined record of 40 goals in pre-season, they failed to convert these opportunities into goals. He stressed the importance of quality and preparation, noting that while his team showed good work rate and desire, it was not enough on this occasion.
Murray praised the performance of the defenders who managed to silence Hartlepool for a significant portion of the first half. However, he expressed disappointment in how quickly the game turned against Barrow with the two goals from Hartlepool.
Reflecting on his team's preparation and the transition from pre-season to league play, Murray acknowledged that it was early days but felt they could have taken something positive from the match. He emphasized the need for improvement in their attacking third, where he believes more quality is required.
