Barrow head coach Andy Whing is keen to build a team in the town's image, and has signed nine new players this summer to achieve this goal. Whing arrived in January to replace Stephen Clemence and has been learning about the football club's importance to the area and community. He wants to put this into practice ahead of the Bluebirds' forthcoming League Two campaign. Before he joined, Whing was researching the town on YouTube to understand what the people want. He has relayed this to the players, explaining who they are representing and what type of player they need to be. Barrow ended last season in 16th place after a run of just one defeat in their final 13 games. It has been a busy summer, with nine new players signed and 12 departures. Whing's key point has been to assess a player's character to see if they would fit in at one of English football's remotest clubs. He has had loads of Zoom calls and conversations this summer to find the right people. Whing has developed a real affinity for the town and its people, and is doing everything possible to make sure there is a connection between himself, the players, and the club's supporters. He loves the town and the people, and it drives him on to want to be a success. The staff, the people at the ground, and the fans have all been fantastic, and Whing is keen to build a team that represents them.
