Barrow AFC rounded off their pre-season schedule with a 1-0 win against Morecambe FC. The Bluebirds were relentless in their attack, with George Walker and Olly Crankshaw causing problems for the Morecambe defence. The hosts' first chance of the game fell to Isaac Buckley-Ricketts, who forced Ben Winterbottom into a strong save. Minutes later, Adam Murray's men drove forward again as Alex Reid went through on goal before his on-target strike was stopped by Joe Young. It was goalless at half-time, but Barrow came close to finding the breakthrough within the first minute of the second 45 minutes. Olly Crankshaw charged forward and sent a looping effort goalward, but it was inches over the bar. At the other end of the pitch, Elliot Newby's headed effort was wide of the target. On the 60-minute mark, it was a comfortable stop for Ben Winterbottom as he collected Newby's effort before hitting the Shrimps on the counter attack. The ball fell into the path of Crankshaw, but his long-range strike was blocked by the Morecambe defence. Scott Smith was the next Bluebird to test the hosts as his headed effort was blocked on the line. With just over 10 minutes left of the 90 to play, a well-worked free-kick forced Joe Young to react quickly to keep out Danny Rose's shot from close range. In the 85th minute, Barrow were awarded a penalty and Crankshaw stepped up to the spot before converting and finding the well-deserved breakthrough. A positive win to round off a successful pre-season schedule for Adam Murray's Bluebirds.
