Barrow let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 with Worthing in the National League on Saturday. Mikey Lane's first-half brace was cancelled out by a second-half double from Worthing's Dom Hutchinson.
Lane put Barrow ahead after 20 minutes and doubled the advantage in first-half stoppage time. The visitors looked comfortable but Hutchinson pulled one back five minutes after the restart. He then completed his brace to level the scores after 61 minutes, with Barrow goalkeeper Ben Winterbottom unable to keep out either effort.
Lane's goals not enough
Mikey Lane's two goals were his first of the season and provided a bright spot in a frustrating afternoon. The forward's finishing gave Barrow a platform they ultimately could not defend. "Dom Hutchinson and Mikey Lane both scored twice as Worthing came from two down to claim a 2-2 National League draw at home to Barrow," Lane said after the match.
The result leaves Barrow 18th in the National League table with five points from six games. Their recent form shows one win, three draws and one loss in their last five outings.
Looking ahead
Barrow must now regroup quickly for their next match away to bottom-placed Solihull Moors on Tuesday. The team will be looking to build on their 3-0 win over Sutton United from the previous weekend, where goals from Williams, Marriott and Whitfield secured three points. The current standings show a tight mid-table battle, with Barrow now 11 points behind leaders Boreham Wood.
