Barrow manager Adam Murray has confirmed the door is 'shut' on club captain MJ Williams returning to the squad. The 30-year-old midfielder has not featured since his sending-off in September, with the team winning four consecutive matches in his absence.
Murray was clear about the situation ahead of Saturday's trip to Tamworth. "As it stands, the door is shut," the manager said. He added, "MJ is a good guy. I've got a good relationship with him, but from a football point of view, we're on different pages."
Williams started seven of the first eight games this term before being dismissed for two yellow cards in the 1-0 loss to Solihull Moors on 15 September. Barrow's form has since surged, with victories over Aldershot Town, Southend, Scunthorpe and Wealdstone propelling them to ninth in the National League on 18 points.
That four-game winning streak is the club's best sequence since December 2023. Murray pointed to the collective unity as a key factor. "We've seen in recent weeks when we get everyone on the same page, it's a powerful thing," he noted.
While not ruling out a future reconciliation, Murray's immediate focus is on maintaining momentum. Barrow, who have a goal difference of +5, visit 18th-placed Tamworth this weekend.
