In a candid interview, the manager described the club as being in "absolute shambles" and said the current season would be a complete cultural rebuild.
Rebuilding Beyond the Pitch
Murray said, "People can choose to be as patient or as impatient as they want to be. I can't control that." He added that the club’s problems are not something that can be solved in two months. "The way things have been done, the way things have been allowed to happen, everything has manifested," he explained. The manager emphasized that his remit extends beyond team selection and tactics. "We're not just rebuilding a team here, we're rebuilding a club. There needs a new culture, a new philosophy, a new mindset, a new attitude," he said.
Psychological Scars
The former defender pointed to the psychological damage from last season’s relegation as a key area that needs repair. "We conceded a goal last week out of nowhere. We're totally on top. And the whole place felt like it was 10-0, and we'd lost 10 on the bounce," Murray said. He stressed that breaking that mentality will take time.

Murray was explicit that the scale of overhaul had been agreed with the club’s hierarchy before he even took the job. "I came in knowing, and the chairman knew, this was going to be a rebuilding season. Our conversations in the summer that it needed to be destroyed and started again," he said. He urged fans to buy into the process. "If people can get behind that and understand that, then we'll have a good journey," he said. "If they can't, then they'll spend a lot of time frustrated."
